6 Simple Feng Shui Tips for your Home
Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese practice that focuses on the qi (pronounced Chee) or energy of a space. I studied in the Black Hat sect of Feng Shui and am often asked what little things make a big difference in our homes.
6 Simple Feng Shui Tips for your Home ~
1. Place your bed in the power position of the bedroom
Feng shui is such a deep practice and this is one of the things that all Feng shui practitioners stress: your bed needs to be in a power spot of the bedroom. What this means is your bed has a full view of the bedroom and is away from the doorway. Try to place your bed facing the doorway and make sure you have the widest view of the bedroom.
2. Clean out the closets
Recently I went through a small closet in my home and I couldn't believe how much stuff had accumulated in this tiny little space! Things were shoved in everywhere and it was stressful to even look at it. Within Feng shui, having organized closets is a huge thing. Take some time over the weekend to go through your closets and organize everything. I ran to Target and bought some new organizer containers and that helped me a lot.
3. Fix all leaks in the home
If you have a leaky faucet, rotting floor or other issue in the home, now is the time to fix it! Having things in the home that are broken or malfunctioning is not ideal and may cause us to develop certain health problems.
4. Throw away broken items
If you have a closet full of random broken items, it's time to throw them away. Have a clock that doesn't work? Some old clothes that are stained but you've held onto? Go through your items and get rid of everything that is broken or no longer serves you.
5. Keep your home organized and clean
Have you noticed how when your home is dirty and a mess, you also feel chaotic? Our home environment and our mental state are very much connected. By keeping your home clean and organized, you'll also feel clear and able to accomplish all that you need to do. Try to keep your home clear of clutter and regularly clean areas like the kitchen, bathrooms and bedroom.
6. Add more plants to your home space
Plants allow a more vibrant energy to enter your home space. By keeping your plants happy and healthy, you are truly planting new intentions and allowing this life force energy to be present in your home. If you are new to plants, read our blog post about the easiest houseplants to care for here.
