How Chakras Work and What Blockages Mean

Updated: Nov 19, 2019

First, you need to know what chakras are. Chakras are “energy centers within the human body that help to regulate all its processes, from organ function to the immune system and emotions. Seven chakras are positioned throughout your body, from the base of your spine to the crown of your head. Each chakra has its own vibrational frequency, color, and governs specific functions that help make you, well, human”.

Chakras are described as the mechanisms of which we have direct experience with our bioenergy and conscious energy.

So how do chakras work? This can be explained by understanding the term nadis and its role in how chakras work. “In yoga theory, nadis carry prana, life force energy. In the physical body, the nadis are channels carrying air, water, nutrients, blood, and other bodily fluids around and are similar to the arteries, veins, capillaries, bronchioles, nerves, lymph canals and so on”.

It's in the nadis where energy enters and leaves through the central nervous system.

The nadis are separate entities from meridians which are the bioenergy channels of our bodies.

The nadis are the channels in which energy coming in and out of the chakras are passed through the body and processed into physical manifestations through us.

The chakras have 2 centripetal forces, one flowing clockwise and the other flowing counterclockwise. The speed and direction of rotation vary from person to person.

The flow of conscious energy through our chakras stimulates and communicates with our bioenergy, which interacts with each other and creates the spiral vortex or energy wheel.

The chakras receptivity of conscious energy and integration into our physical form is the driving force of conscious growth.

So what is a blockage? A blockage is a holding of energy in the body. The nadis often get blocked and you may find these blockages through the chakras or in a specific location in the body. Blockages are ideas, thoughts, feelings, events, people, or beliefs that we hold onto that contradict or resist the flow of conscious energy and bioenergy.

Now what? Take steps to determine if you have a chakra blockage and do the work! Stay tuned for our next blog as we dive deeper into determining a blockage and what to do from there.

Much love & light,
