I'll admit I was hugely skeptical the first time I heard about pole fitness. It seemed strange that some people played on poles for fun and not as a profession. But the more I heard about it, the more curious I became.
A few years ago I went to my first pole fitness class, completely unsure of what exactly I was getting into, but feeling that it might just become a powerful practice for me.
And indeed, it was.
I spent 90 minutes dancing and moving in ways I had never experienced before. I felt liberated and free as I learned a simple flow. By the end of that first class, I was hooked. So I took pole fitness classes for the next 15 months.
There is something that pole fitness offers that very few other exercises or hobbies can fully embody: the freedom to be creative and authentic. It's amazing how you can turn on a powerful, moody song and suddenly feel your body dancing with passion and ease. You can also turn on a slow, sultry song and feel yourself reawaken a sensual part of yourself.
What I found through my pole fitness experience was that it was perhaps the most powerful way to express my divine creativity and embody the Goddess. Creativity, flow and movement are powerful expressions of the Goddess and pole offers a powerful space to live these emotions.
If you're looking for a fun, creative and active way to connect to your body, your emotions and music, I highly recommend taking a pole fitness class. Or if group classes aren't your thing, you can also buy a pole online and take youtube tutorials. After over a year of pole classes, I know learn via Youtube and the many incredible pole teachers that are available online.
