We should be creating our best lives every day. We should be doing what sets our soul on fire~We should be living a life of joy and engage in practices that empower us to be the best versions of ourselves!
Self-reflection is a helpful tool when it comes to living intentionally. We need to ask ourselves if we are being mindful of our precious time and energy? Are we taking enough quality time for self-care? And what practices are we doing to feel joyful and empowered?
Here are 9 tips to live a life of joy~
1~Journal~Putting your thoughts on paper is so powerful. It can be both therapeutic and a way to express ourselves and have a creative outlet. Gratitude journals are also wonderful reminders of what brings us joy and what we have to be thankful for.
2~Meditate~Clearing your mind and taking a step back from a hectic life is a game-changer. When you meditate, you get a break from everything and it’s your time. Meditating first thing in the morning is a great start to any day and a way to set the tone for peace and joy.
3~Listen to podcasts~There are so many great podcasts out there. You can find a podcast on literally any topic! So, find a podcast that resonates with you. Listen to learn or just listen to enjoy. Take advantage of these free and easy resources and listen in the car, at work, or the gym.
4~Exercise/Yoga~Move your body! It can be through exercise, yoga, or dance, no matter what you do, it will feel good! No gym membership or money for a yoga class? No problem! Use Youtube as a resource and find at home things to do. At the end of the day, your body will thank you and you will be happy you made time to honor your temple.
5~Sleep~Getting enough sleep is so vital to our overall health. Sleep is a time to rest and recharge. When we get enough sleep we can do anything! But really, it resets our bodies, gives our minds mental clarity, and gives us energy. When we improve our sleep, we improve all aspects of our lives.
6~Read~Reading brings joy because it's such a personal practice. You get to choose what you want to read and learn about. Going to the bookstore or library is such a soothing activity. Maybe you love to read so much, you find a local book club to join, that way you can share the joy!
7~Say “no”~Start saying no to things that don’t resonate with you. Do what's best for you and put yourself first. You are the most important person in your life and you need to take care of you always. Saying “no” might be hard at first but in the end its best. When you say “no” it means you didn’t compromise your joy and you listened to yourself.
8~Hydrate~Drinking water is life. You need it to live! There are so many health benefits to staying hydrated. Staying hydrated helps cleanse the body, aids in weight loss, helps digestion, creates glowing skin, promotes cardiovascular health, keeps your body cool, and helps your muscles and joints work better. Have fun with hydrating by adding your favorite fruits or herbs to your water to maximize both health benefits and joy.
9~Set goals~There’s no better feeling than setting a goal and achieving it. So why not do it every day! It can be as simple as three bullet points on a post-it note. No matter how big, small, simple, or complex a goal might be, that feeling of reaching a goal and crossing it off your list is like no other. Feel empowered and accomplished by setting goals and doing your best to achieve them.
