The Wisdom of Essential Oils 101

Essential oils are highly concentrated natural oils extracted from plants. “They capture the plant’s scent and flavor also called its essence.”

Essential oils have been used for wellness purposes for thousands of years. “It's common for Egyptians to be given credit as the first culture to use aromatic extracts for beauty care, culinary uses, spiritual and physical well-being.”

These powerful oils have the ability to enhance our lives and our well-being. When we inhale or topically apply essential oils, we are stimulating parts of the brain or absorbing plant power, which offers medicinal effects and benefits.

Important to note is that not all essential oils are created the same. There are a lot of essential oil brands out there but not all are USDA-Certified Organic essential oils. So make sure to do your research and purchase from a reputable company!

We love essential oils because they can be utilized in so many simple, yet creative ways! You can:

~Use essential oils in a room or car diffuser

~Apply it topically to the skin, by creating a roll-on bottle mixture using essential oils diluted in a carrier oil like coconut oil

~Buy diffuser necklaces or bracelets and put the oils directly on the jewelry itself

~Add essential oils to your bath and inhale them while also topically absorbing them

~Steam essential oils by adding them to a bowl of steaming water and inhaling

~Make a spray bottle mixture of essential oils to water to freshen up a room or space anytime

~Ingest them, but only under the supervision of a licensed health care provider

There are hundreds of essential oils out there and they each serve different purposes and stimulate different parts of the brain for healing. So it’s all about picking oils based on your needs and what you wish to get out of them!

Some of the most popular reasons for using essential oils include: to gain relaxation, to improve or boost mood, and to aid in sleep.
