Happy Summer Solstice, Sister! The longest day of the year is upon us!
This sacred day has been celebrated for thousands of years as a time of gratitude, abundance and community. Whether you're celebrating alone or with a group of friends, we hope that this day offers you the support, guidance and wisdom you seek.
A couple years ago we wrote up a blog post about how to celebrate the Summer Solstice here, and this year we decided to add to that sacred list of ideas and ways to connect to this sacred day.
Here's 5 more ways to celebrate the Summer Solstice and remember the wisdom of this powerful day ~
1) Reflect on gratitude for the last 6 months. Think about how your life has changed, ebbed and flowed in the last 6 month since the Winter Solstice. What blessings are present in your life? Who have you become? Take this time to journal with your gratitude list or speak them out loud with a group of friends!
2) Get your hands in the dirt. Plant a new garden, repot your houseplants or simply lay your hands on the earth to reconnect. This is a great way to connect to the earth and also plant new intentions!
3) Dance upon the earth. With the Summer Solstice, it's powerful to connect with the high energy that is usually present on this day. Take off your shoes, play some music (or have a friend drum!) and let your feet dance upon the earth. Ecstatic dance is a great way to celebrate the Solstice!
4) Make changes to support the Earth. Commit to recycle, buy reusable grocery bags, choose to ditch plastic water bottles or plant a new tree in your yard. These small changes make a big difference for Mother Earth so commit to be a better ally and supporter of this magnificent planet.
5) Feast on beautiful, local produce that is in season! Go to your local farmer's market and enjoy the bounty of the season. Fresh lettuces, greens and vegetables are abundant this time of year so connect to this sacred day by supporting your local farmers AND creating a spread of delicious, nourishing food.
