Reflections from a Journey to Alaska
Every Summer I look forward to going back to beautiful, wild Alaska. One, because I love the Alaska Goddess Retreats that we lead up there and Two, because Alaska has always been my special place.
I would guess that we all have that one place that captivated us as kids. Maybe it was our family cabin or somewhere we visited abroad or maybe it was even our own hometown but regardless, I think we all have one spot that we feel is truly home for us.
Alaska has always been mine.
My Summers were filled with Alaskan wonder, purple fireweed, xtratufs and carving paths through pushki with machetes. I remember fishing for halibut out in Kachemak Bay and wading into the Kenai River eagerly searching for Kings.
This Summer I again had the pleasure to go to Homer, Alaska - the place that my heart has always called home. This year I chose to fly to Alaska (the last two years I drove!) and it was a much quicker journey to say the least!
During my trip to Alaska, I had the absolute pleasure to lead an Alaska Goddess Retreat in Homer, AK and 13 beautiful sisters joined me for that healing retreat. We stayed at a gorgeous lodge on 20 acres with a million dollar view of the glaciers across Kachemak Bay. We also feasted on organic food hand prepared by our incredible Seattle-based Chef Monica. Leading Goddess Retreats in Alaska are something I look forward to all year!
I also had at the pleasure to lead a Moon and Woman Workshop at Many Rivers, an adorable and cozy yoga studio right in Homer. We had an incredible time discussing the moon phases, the Divine Feminine and how to live as empowered, authentic women.
After these two big events, I had some time to rest. I spent most of my days walking to Bishop's Beach in Homer, searching for beautiful rocks and shells along the water and enjoying amazing food. If you're looking for food tips, my favorite breakfast is at Fresh Sourdough Express, the best lunch can be found at La Baleine and the best cup of coffee at either K Bay Caffe or Two Sisters!
Simply being in Alaska was blissful. Walking past fields of fireweed and taking in the world's freshest air was beyond incredible.
I also had a lot of time to journal, practice yoga and be with family. This trip reminded me that the most simple moments can be the most life changing.
I am already eagerly planning next Summer's trip and our 2019 Alaska Goddess Retreat! Be sure to subscribe to our newsletter to find out about Alaska dates as soon as they go live!!
If you do ever get the chance to go to Alaska, I HIGHLY recommend. The wild land and laid back mentality is truly unlike anywhere else I've ever been. Homer especially has my heart and I feel excited knowing that I can come back to this beautiful land every Summer.
I'd love to hear about the place that feels like home for you! Comment below if you'd like.
With so much gratitude,
