10 Healthy Snack Ideas for Travel and Life on the Road

Leading Sacred Goddess Retreats all over the world means that I'm traveling at least once a month to another state or country. Because of this, I've needed to learn how to make delicious and yet nourishing snacks that work for life on the go!

Whether you are looking for simple, healthy snacks to enjoy at work or if you're looking for healthy ways to live on the road, I hope this blog is helpful for you!

10 Healthy Snack Ideas for Life on the Road~

1. Homemade Guac and Chips

Homemade guacamole is too good to not have on this list! I like to simply mash a whole avocado, add a bit of olive oil, sea salt, paprika and that's it! Organic corn chips or the grain-free Siete chips are great options to pair with the guac.

2. Date Pecan Bites

This sweet snack is one of my favorite options if I have time to make it. You simply slice a date in half, remove the pit, add a scoop of almond butter into each half and then top with a pecan each. That's it and you'll be amazed by how delicious this combo is! I find that it tastes a lot like pecan pie.

3. Macadamia Nuts

Extremely high in fat and nutrient dense, macadamia nuts are great snack options. With the high fat content, they'll keep you full longer on the road.

4. Organic blueberries and sliced strawberries

If I have time before a long trip, I'll fill a ziplock bag with fresh organic blueberries and sliced strawberries. You could also add in a couple small pieces of dark chocolate to make this snack even richer!

5. Bulletproof Bars

Bullerproof Bars are one of my favorite snacks because these bars are high in fat and protein and low in carbohydrates. They come in all different flavors - chocolate fudge, lemon cake and vanilla shortbread - and they are all delicious. If I'm on a plane or on a long road trip, I always have a few of these with me!

6. Dried Mango

One of my go-to options first thing in the morning, dried mango snacks are nutrient dense and delicious. I typically buy them at Trader Joe's or Natural Grocers and then have a great snack throughout the day. If you are going on a long hiking trip, this would also be a good snack to have on hand.

7. Epic Bars

If you eat meat, Epic bars are a great way to go. They range in all different types of meat from salmon to venison to beef to pork and so these little protein snacks are great for long trips. I personally love the salmon jerky one and so it usually accompanies me on all trips.

8. Almond Butter Cups

Great for when you have a sweet tooth, almond butter cups or like peanut butter cups but better. (Yes, I said it!) My personal favorite brand is Hail Mary and these are found in the refrigerator section usually by the Kombucha at any health food store. I also like Justin's organic almond butter cups though too.

9. Pumpkin Seeds

If I'm craving something salty, pumpkin seeds are a great snack. High in fiber and also great for regulating the body after travel, pumpkin seeds are truly the ultimate snack.

10. Hardboiled Eggs with Sea Salt

If time permits, I love making some hardboiled eggs and sprinkling them with sea salt. Whether I'm at the airport or on a road trip, this protein dense snack is a favorite.

I hope this list was helpful for you and gave you some new ideas on snack options! Eating healthy on the road is so key to feeling nourished and healthy throughout the day.

In gratitude,
