Simple Goddess Routine for Glowing Skin

Finding a skin care routine that is both effective AND healthy for the skin is a tricky thing. For years I have been looking for a face routine that works well for me and my skin type. (My skin tends to run on the dry side though women with oily skin have also told me that this routine works lovely for them.)

I have spent hours at different health food stores around the country dissecting ingredients on “organic” and “natural” face cleansers, toners, moisturizers, creams and facial products. The sad truth is: most of these products contain toxic ingredients.

I have researched the ingredients on these products and have been completely shocked by what they can legally put in these products - even the organic and natural ones.

I like to live by this rule of thumb:

“If you wouldn’t eat it, don’t put it on your skin.”

Your skin is your largest organ and the skin on our faces tends to be more sensitive to harsh chemicals. Anything you put on your skin, whether a facial cleanser or paint, is absorbed. So, this propelled me to find a skin care routine that was actually healthy and improved the health of my skin.

Note: This is not a MLM pitch or my own products. From one woman to another, this is what i’ve found works!

Here are the 4 products I use~

  1. Cleanser

  2. Toner

  3. Moisturizer

  4. Face Mask once a week

My specific Goddess routine for healthy and glowing skin~

—Cleanser: Nourish Organic Face Cleanser

If you have been hunting for a natural facial cleanser, you know that it’s really hard to find one with pure ingredients! I am so grateful that I found this gem at the health food store. I like the cucumber watercress blend for a refreshing and gentle cleanser. I like that this cleanser is really gentle for my dry skin and also helps to balance oil in the skin. I wash my face with this each morning and night, scrubbing very gently across my face and rinsing with warm water.

This cleanser is free of all of the following chemicals: petrochemicals, parabens, artificial fragrances, preservatives, sulfates, EDTA, aluminum and many other things.

—Toner: Acure Organic Facial Toner

Before I actually saw how effective these products were at revitalizing my skin health, I would have scoffed at the idea of a toner. I never really understood all of these fancy products but once I used this toner, I was amazed at how well my face responded to it. This toner helps to restore healthy moisture levels in the skin and is also lovely for dry skin. After I wash my face, I spritz a little bit of toner on my face, being careful to avoid my eyes. You can also use a cotton ball and gently pat the toner into the skin. This toner contains ingredients like organic rose water and organic witch hazel to support the health of the skin and to gently tone the face.

This product contains only rose water, witch hazel, organic herb extracts and organic glycerin. This was my favorite toner that I found.

—Organic Fair Trade Shea Butter Moisturizer

Shea butter is a funny thing with skin health. As I searched the internet for an oil that would be nourishing to the skin but not overly greasy, I saw many articles recommending Shea butter and others that discouraged it. Everyone has a different opinion of it and we all have different skin types so I would recommend trying Shea butter as your moisturizer for a couple days. I like Shea butter because it is deeply nourishing and moisturizing but it also absorbs into the skin quite quickly. If you have dry skin especially, you may love how rich the shea butter is. I take a small amount between my fingers each morning and night and moisturize my face well, giving myself a few minutes to let the oil absorb into my skin.

This is my personal favorite oil that I have used on my face for years, but if this doesn't align for you, some other great organic oil moisturizers include jojoba oil and argon oil. I personally could not find a single fancy, high end moisturizer that wasn’t full of toxic ingredients so I recommend using an oil instead.

—Redmond’s Facial Mud Mask

Another difficult thing to find: a natural, chemical free mask! I searched for over an hour just on this one. Most of the ones at the store had over 100 ingredients that were “naturally” derived but I wanted to find something simple. I saw this Facial Mud and knew I had found a great option. If you’ve never seen the Redmond’s brand before, they ethically mine healing salts and clay from the earth that are naturally high in minerals. This “mud” can be used to balance the pH of the skin, tone the skin and deep clean the pores. There are simply 2 ingredients in this product: purified water and Bentonite Clay.

Once a week, I will wash my face and between cleansing and toning, I will apply this to my damp face and let it sit for at least 10 minutes. If you have never given yourself a facial, you may really love this! As you approach the 10 minute mark, the mud begins to dry on the face, toning and lifting the face as well. After you wash the mud off, you’ll find your skin smoother and clearer than it’s been in years. I truly love how simple this is.

I am not a skin care professional, but I have seen what works well for me and some of the women I work with! If these products resonate with you, you can purchase them via Amazon below or at your local health food store.

Below is a photo of my before + after picture doing this routine. For years I just washed my face with water and thought I was doing the best thing for my face. In the left picture, you can the red tones, unevenness and dry skin. I still love myself in this picture, but you can see my face did not have a glow. I have been using this products for the last month.

In the photo on the right, you can see the natural glow, the even skin tone and well moisturized skin. I love this new Goddess routine.

Let us know how this routine works for you!

Lots of love,

Cassandra Wilder
